Marijuana Watering Tips

After the seed has been planted and the soil watered well, you don't need to water again for a few days.

The amount of water, and how often to water varies with the size of the pots and plants, and the amount of light.

When plants are small they transpire less, and don't require as frequent watering as when they are larger with more leaves.

When seedlings have just appeared above the ground, you should water very carefully to prevent the force of the water knocking them over.

Water provides the hydrogen necessary for plant growth and also carries the nutrients throughout the plant.

Cannabis plants prefer a regular watering cycle, but should preferably not be watered every day.

Although the theory that the more water a plant is given, the faster it will grow is incorrect, underwatering will slow plant growth.

Although the Cannabis plant loves lots of water, the most common cause of death in homegrown plants is from overwatering them.

A large pot that was saturated before germination may hold enough moisture for the first two to three weeks of growth.

Plant cells are kept rigid by water, and when there is not enough moisture left in the soil, the leaves start wilting and dropping off.

The ideal water for your plants should have a neutral pH and be relatively free of chlorine and other harmful chemicals.

Never allow the soil to become too dry, but never allow it to be constantly wet either.

Your plants will grow better if you water them during the morning hours rather than the evenings.

It is always better to use water at room temperature than warm or cold water, to prevent "shocking" the root system.

Too much chlorine in tap water tends to turn the soil a little acidic, and may have to be balanced by adding some calcium.

If your water supply is high in chemicals, the best solution is to let the water stand in an open container for a few days before use.

Although distilled or boiled water will not be harmful to your plants, it does not contain certain minerals beneficial for good growth.

Plants with a long daily light photoperiod will transpire more and require more frequent watering than plants grown with a shorter light period.

Lightly spray the leaves of your plants to cool them down after a hot day or long light photoperiod.

A wilted plant that has been without moisture for several days can still be saved if watered immediately and thoroughly.

A good sign to water your plants is when the top five or six centimeters of the soil in the pot has dried out completely.

If your plants start losing more leaves than normal, it may be because you are overwatering them.

It is better to use a watering can with a sprinkler top than a one with a solid flow, to prevent soil and root disturbance while watering.

Always water into the pot from above, rather than by filling the tray underneath and letting the plant suck up the water.

Whereas a small plant growing in a big pot will only require weekly watering, a big plant growing in a small pot may require daily watering.

It has been suggested that by limiting the watering during flowering, you can positively influence the potency of the plant.

During flowering, you should check how long after watering your plants start wilting, and then regularly water them one day sooner.

Although Cannabis is a very hardy and adaptable plant and survives quite well in conditions with little moisture, it prefers a regular watering cycle.

Always check the pH of your regular water supply to determine it's long-term effect on the soil and growing plants.

Because some plants grow faster than others, hand watering each pot individually is usually preferable to automatic drip-release systems.

Rain water often contains nitrogen and other elements, which makes it an excellent source of water for indoor marijuana plants.

Cannabis prefers a well-drained soil, so you should not be too concerned if some water runs through the pot and into the tray below.

As indoor marijuana plants do not receive stem strengthening rain and wind, spraying the leaves with water is a good substitute.

Marijuana Pruning Tips

Each time a growing tip is clipped, the stem branches into two shoots, which begin to grow from the nearest leaf axils.

Pruning a growing marijuana plant is an easy way of controlling uneven growth without seriously harming the plant.

Don't prune the growing tip of a young seedling until after the first five-bladed leaves have formed, and the vegetative stage has begun.

Many growers prune the growing tips after four to five weeks growth to develop lower branches which will quickly fill all the horizontal space.

The greatest potency of the growing plant is found in the growing tips, and by three months, they should make a high quality smoke.

You can basically prune growing tips at any stage of the plant's development, but just don't overdo it.

Severe pruning can harm the growth of the plant.

It is always better to plan a pruning strategy for your developing plants, rather than haphazardly clipping off growing tips on an irregular basis.

Each time a growing tip is removed, the plant takes a few days to recover before new growth resumes on that branch.

The amount of new growth formed with continued pruning is limited by the genetic structure of the seed, and the conditions of the environment.

It is better to prune your plants at an early stage of their development, than towards the end of the vegetative stage or during flowering.

It is always better to prune growing tips in the morning than in the evening, as it gives the plant a full day to recover and heal the wounds.

It is not recommended that you prune every new node in a developing plant. Rather prune every second or third node to allow the plant time to recover.

Wait for the new node to start growing before clipping the young branch a few millimeters above the previous node's newly formed leaves.

It is always better to use a small scissors to prune your plants, than to simply pluck off the growing tips by hand.

Do not prune any growing tips if you notice that your plant's health is declining and it has started losing leaves. Although you should always smoke the pruned growing tips, plants should be pruned to develop their growth rather than for smoking purposes.

While it may be tempting to prune female buds during early flowering, your harvest will be severely reduced by doing so.

Cannabis Indica is a genetically smaller and more bushy plant than Cannabis Sativa and usually requires less pruning.

Never prune more than the single growing tip, or upper-most node, from any branch on the growing plant.

The upper-most growing tip of an unpruned marijuana plant will always be more potent that the top buds of a pruned plant grown in similar conditions.

Pruning the tallest branches ensures that the lower branches grow upwards, forming a larger surface area for the light to cover.

The clear fluid that often flows from the end of a newly pruned branch, contains substances which seal the wound and aid the healing process.

Although it is recommended that you remove all dying leaves from the plant, you should resist the temptation to prune too many healthy leaves.

To grow seedless marijuana, you should remove all the male plants as soon as they are discovered, by pruning the main stem right above the ground.

Although it may be better developed, a pruned marijuana plant does not always produce more buds than an unpruned plant.

Another good reason for pruning is to take cuttings from a strong growing, favourite plant for further hydroponic development.

Marijuana growers often prune their plants in an attempt to limit their height and prevent unwanted detection.

An alternative to pruning for developing growth, is to bend the tops of the branches over and tie the growing tips down with string or wire.

Remember that by pruning a growing tip, you are removing the most potent part of the plant, thereby spoiling it's chance of reaching full maturity.

By pruning all the buds at harvest time, rather than cutting the stem off above the ground, you could easily harvest your plant a second time.

By severely pruning your marijuana plants you are lowering their resistance to harmful natural enemies such as insects, fungus and frost.

You can make a great cup of tea, by chopping up some pruned growing tips and soaking them in boiled water for a few minutes.

Cannabis is a very hardy and adaptable plant, and will endure serious harm to it's leaves, branches and stem before it dies.

Marijuana Lighting Tips

Although natural sunlight is the best form of light for growing plants, their life cycle can be controlled more effectively with artificial lighting

The life cycle of the Cannabis plant is determined by the daily photoperiod (hours of light per day).

A young marijuana plant tends to grow faster if it is grown under continuous light for the first two months of it's development.

Although the lamps should be kept as close as possible to the growing tips, they should never be allowed to touch the plants.

The best light for plant growth emits high intensities of the blue and red bands of the light spectrum.

Fluorescent light is one of the most effective source of artificial light readily available to home growers.

Metal Halide lamps are better than most fluorescents, because they radiate more light in the blue and white bands of the light spectrum.

If your lights, after being on for a while, are too hot to touch with your hand, they are probably also too hot to be close to the growing tips.

The amount of light you supply your plants depends on the size of the garden, but at least 20 watts per square foot is recommended.

Although Metal Halide lamps are generally considered a better light source for marijuana growth, they use a lot more electricity than fluorescents..

Under artificial light, a marijuana plant can grow from three to six feet tall in three to four months.

Plants entering the vegetative stage enjoy up to twenty two hours of light per day, while twelve hours or less is required for flowering.

The more light you give your plants, the faster they will grow.

Lamps should be fixed to the roof in such a way that they can easily be raised as the plant grows in height.

The use of aluminum foil reflectors ensures that the light is spread more uniformly around the plants.

To increase the humidity of the air in a small, enclosed garden, place a small bowl of water in the growroom.

You could use a small fan to cool down your plants, if the lights in a small growroom raise the temperature too much.

Plants grown in conditions of varying daily light patterns will not settle into a regular life cycle and will grow poorly.

If there is insufficient light in the growroom, the plants will often grow tall and thin, in search of the light.

Do not "wake up" your plants by switching on the lights if they are in the dark period of their daily light cycle.

Plants grown with a long daily photoperiod, will require more frequent watering than those grown with less light.

Although incandescent, or screw-in light-bulbs are usually not suitable for good growth, they can be used in conjunction with fluorescent tubes.

If the edges of the leaves near the lights and growing tips start curling up, it usually means that they are getting too hot.

A Cannabis plant will grow with as little as six hours of light per day, but requires more than twelve hours per day for good strong growth.

A plant grown with insufficient light may sometimes develop disfigured leaves with only one or two blades per leaf.

If your growroom has a window, you should consider covering it up to prevent daylight from interfering with your own photoperiod.

Paint the walls, and even the floor and roof of your growroom white, for better reflection of the light onto your growing plants.

If you have a few plants growing unevenly under one light, you could raise the pots of the smallest plants by placing them on a few bricks.

Although easy to control, the daily light photoperiod is the single most important factor influencing the growth of your plants.

Cannabis plants require less than twelve hours of light per day for at least two weeks before you can expect to see the first signs of flowers appearing.

Never increase the daily light photoperiod to more than twelve hours, once your plants have started flowering.

A marijuana plant grown indoors with lots of light will often grow larger and more potent than a similar plant growing outdoors in natural light.

To increase the amount of light available to the lower branches, you could mount extra fluorescent tubes vertically, onto the walls of your growroom.

Ok sorry guy's for this late update.
Better late then never :-)
Ok the baby's are getting a little bit bigger , they are about 6/7 inches now.
They could be bigger but i had no room for them yet in my "nursery".
Now they are in there and have the right light and temperature.
temperature is like 27 celsius with my lights on and 22 celsius with the lights off.

They still get just water with a few drops of root stimulator.
making sure my ph level of the water stay between 6 and 7.
What also can be a problem now the summer is comming is , how you get the temperature
on that 27 /28 degrees celsius? cos when it gets to warm in there, they will dry out to easy and die.and when its to warm they can also develop to be male and we don't want that do we ?
well you need to have a airfilter that will suck up fresh air from outside and blows it out of the "nursery" at the same time.I also added a fan in there for some extra air flow.
The plants will also get stronger and get a bigger stam coz of the wind.
I also reversed day and night. When its day outside , the lights will be out in the nursery. when its night outside , it will be light in the nursery. i do that because the light i use produce a lot of heat. and turning the lights on at night prevents me of getting it to hot in there because the temperature at night is much colder then during day time. and since my airfilter sucks up the air from outside, it will also cool down the temperature in the nursery.

Next update i will try to post something more about building your own growing room.
It can be something really small. You don't need that much space for it.
And its not that expensive to make it.

Just wanted to show you one of my latest plants , the bottle is a 1,5 liter pepsi bottle.
They are drying right now and will be ready to roll in a few days.

Ok here we are again with another update.
The baby's are doing good as you can see on the picture.
Its almost time to put them in bigger pots , only these pots are still filled with some other plants that are almost finished.
So the baby's have to wait a little longer before they get more room.

I also want to tell you some more about the nutrience they need.
these nutrience are not to be given when they are baby's. Lets say i start them growing first for like 4 weeks and all they get is water with a few drops of root stimulator. Once i put them in blooming stage i will be adding these other nutrience.

This is like a basic nutrient.
It got all the basic nutrients they need , and we will be giving them that till they will be ready.
So every time we give them water we add some of this to it.
And every week we put a little more into the water.
week 1 - 10ml 0n 5 liters of water
week 2 - 15ml on 5 liters of water...ect ect.

This is called root stimulator.
This is used for them to develop a better root system.
We add like 1 ml for every 1 liter water we give them.
And only do that during the first 2 weeks , after that they will not need it anymore.

This one is called multi enzym , its a growth stimulater.
This we will give them around week 3 in the blooming stage.
And we will do that for 3 weeks.
And this is also 1 ml for 1 liter of water.

This one is called top booster , yeah great name isn't it?
we will be giving them this in week 6 of the blooming stage.
and only for like 3-5 days.
15 ml for 10 liters of water should do the trick.

Ok last but not least... bud XL.
You know what this does to your bud's.
It will make them BIG. Its a flowering stimulator..
we will startgiving this also in week 6 but will continue this till the end.
1 ml for 1 liter of water.

Normaly it will take up to like 8 weeks for them to be ready in the blooming stage, but thats also depending on what type of plants you have .
I still have 4 plants going and they are still not ready. and they are in there for 10 weeks now. But the buds are going so great , one is almost as big as my fist.
The plant are ready when like 75% of the hairs are brown. My big buds are still almost covered with white hairs so i think they will be in there for at least another week.
And then they can be cut down and i can let them dry.
that will take anoter week.

Ok people here is another update.
the baby's on the pictures are now one week old.
you can see that there is a big difference in length but
thats not something to worry about.
the only thing you should be coserned about is that i hope that they are all
female plants. I bought them as female seeds but you never know.
you can only see that when you put them in the blooming stage, and
that will be after 4 weeks. So wish me luck with these ones.

These baby's are under 18hours of light and 6 hours total darkness.
thats what they need in the growing stage.
in the flowering stage it will be 12 hours light and 12 hours darkness.
but i will tell you all about that later.

Ofcourse these baby's need water , now what i have to check is the ph level of the water. you can check that with a ph meter. the ph level should be between 6 and 7.
that is the best level (so i am told) for the plants , this way they can take up all the nutrience they need the best.
i also add a few drops of humic acid to it. that way they develop better and faster roots.

Ok as promised i am starting up a new session of weed growing.
First i bought some seeds from Bc bud depot. (you can find there link on my web site)
The seeds are called Sour Diesel.( hope it taste better then the name says )

The first thing i have to do is to put those little seed on some wet paper towel and cover them again with paper towel.ten i cover the whole thing so they are in total darkness.
making sure that the paper towel stays wet so the seeds can develop a root.
i check them every day if i can see a root comming out. (takes about 3-4 days)
On the picture you can see a little root developing.

Now that the seeds are developing a root , is it time for me to put them in rock wool.Its the same kind of stuff they use for isolation the walls of your house.
But you can also put them in soil.
I always used soil but for now i want to try this.
Ok the seeds are in there now and now its waiting for them to grow.
Will keep you updated how it is going.

to combat pain has reached the U.S. Supreme Court. Ten states allow it, including California, but the high court ruled
this summer that the government can prosecute seriously ill patients who smoke pot.

Monday's series of raids city-wide netted jars of marijuana and packages of hashish destined for sale to people suffering from cancer, AIDS and auto accidents. The net stretched from the beach community to the inner city. "The message is clear -- marijuana is against the law. The DEA has an obligation (and) we take our role very seriously," said John Fernandes, with the Drug Enforcement Agency. Patients and supporters of medical marijuana are up in arms and planning protests.

"Some people have cancer -- (it's) not fair when all we want to do is get help," said medical marijuana user Cole, who didn't give his full name. "At least we now know what we're up against, and we can get on with solving problems of not being able to access medicine under federal law," said Barbara MacKenzie. A total of 14 locations were raided Monday across the county. Plants, processed marijuana and financial records were seized.

How long does Marijuana stay in your System?

This question is asked by many different people, and for good reason. Marijuana is the most commonly used and tested for drug in the United States and several other countries as well. Marijuana is also the drug that is more likely to stay in your system for days, weeks, or even an entire month after the last time that you smoke. Therefore, even though marijuana is one of the least harmful drugs out there, it is also the most likely drug to cause you to fail a drug test.

When you ask the question "How long does marijuana stay in your system?" you need to take into account the fact that there is no simple answer to this question. Quite simply, it's argued both that THC never leaves your brain, as well as that there are several different factors which can affect whether or not you test positive for marijuana use.

The speed at which marijuana leaves your body depends both on the speed of your metabolism, as well as on the half life of THC. Unlike most other substances, the half-life of THC can vary quite a bit, depending on who is using it, when it's used, and several other factors. For example, it's estimated that THC can have a half life that ranges anywhere from 1-10 days. It's almost impossible to find out what that half life is, which means that it is very difficult to use it to calculate how long it will take for all of the THC to leave your body.

Not only that, but your metabolism and how much marijuana you smoked will also have an effect on the length of time that it will take you before you can test without testing positive for marijuana use. After all, the half-life is only the length of time that it takes for you to lose half of the THC that is in your system. If you've smoked a lot of marijuana, then it will take you longer before the THC in your body drops back below the amount that is detectable by most drug tests.

For this reason, when you ask "How long does marijuana stay in your system?" you have to realize that it's very unlikely that you'll be able to get a usable answer. The most common period of time is anywhere from 3-30 days, depending on your metabolism and the amount of marijuana that you've smoked. This is unfortunate, since it means that while most drug tests can only turn up evidence of other drugs if you've been taking the drug within a few days of the drug test, marijuana could still be detected in a urine test up to a month after the last time it is used.

Hair tests are even worse, since your body stores THC in the hair follicles. This is due to the fact that it takes so long for the THC to leave your system that you'll probably test positive if you do not. If you don't have an entire month to wait before you need to take the test, then you should definitely think about some other options to keep from testing positive.

Scooby Snacks

2 cups flour
2 eggs
1 cup quaker dry oatmeal
1 tbl vanilla
1/2 cup cocoa
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 pound (1 stick) butter
1 tsp walnut extract
1 oz. of finely ground cannabis
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine all ingredients in a large mixing bowl. If there is not enough liquid to mix all ingredients after 5 minutes of stirring, add a tiny amount of milk to aid in mixing of remaining ingredients. Taste batter before cooking and adjust amount of sugar to your liking. Place on a lightly greased cookie sheet and bake for 8 to 12 minutes, depending on how large you made your cookies. Can be cooked for a shorter time for chewier cookies, or a longer time for drier, crisp cookies.

4.20 time?

What does 420 mean? There are varying theories on the origin of 420. Some say that 420 originated from a police code that announces marijuana use is taking place. Yet another story is that a group of guys (Waldo's) in the 1970's made 4:20 their official meeting time to smoke marijuana after school. Whether or not 4:20 p.m. is the best time of day for your first hit depends on your own body, your own needs. Some folks feel that waiting until 4:20 enhances ones appreciation of the herb. Of course, your mileage may vary.

In the 21st Century, 420 is firmly established as a code amongst tokers, a time of day and even sort of a toker's New Year's Day. It's in our culture now and only time will tell where it ends up.

April 20th (4/20) is another usage, meaning that it is time for to plant before the summer.

Whatever the real story is, 420 has been an important part of the marijuana culture since the 1970's. Smoking Marijuana

Smoking marijuana produces the most immediate effects and permits the most refined control of your dosage. Smoking any material is not good for the lungs, but the amount that you need to smoke is so small that you need not be overly concerned. It is better to smoke the flowers rather than the leaves as this also reduces the amount you will need to smoke. Using a water pipe will cool the smoke and relieve many of the toxins produced by burning. Smoking joints (marijuana cigarettes) is suggested. (High Times, 1993)

Eating Marijuana

Marijuana can be eaten. When consumed this way, it is usually baked in brownies or cookies, and sometimes made into candy, particularly with mashed dates. It takes longer to feel the effects when eaten, and may take longer for you to learn to control your dosage. However, when you do feel the effects, they may be stronger than those felt by smoking. You may also feel a certain heaviness in your body. This will not hurt you. Schedue your time so that you can relax when you take it.

Marijuana Tea

Like other herbs, marijuana may be made into a tea. Boil the water first and pour it over the marijuana. Let it steep for longer than you would for common black tea; approximately an hour and a half. Add 1 tsp. of butter. The effects are similar to eating it.

Tincture

To prepare a tincture, use 5 parts fresh marijuana to 1 part vodka. If you are using dried marijuana, as is usually the case, use 10 parts marijuana to 1 part vodka. An easy way to do this if you don't have measuring equipment, is to fill whatever container you are using (glass is preferable as you don't want to leech any residues from metal containers) two thirds full with herb, then fill the container with vodka and let stand for a week or more. Afterward, strain the solution. If you use a larger portion of herb, the resulting tincture will be more potent.

Marijuana Compress

Follow the recipe as for tea. Make as much as you need to thoroughly soak the cloth you intend to use. Apply to pain, leave on 1/2 hour.

Space Cake

For a nice cake (about 10 slices) you need:

200 gr. of bakingflour
200 CL. of milk
2 eggs
180 grams of sugar
180 grams of butter
a hot oven (200 °c)
a baking form
8 grams of good (light) hasjs. (I prefer using Polm or Zero)

Something to mix is always a nice touch. To give it the cake a fresh taste: put 1 apple (sliced) in the cake. You can mix cacao (chocolate), a banana, vanilla (no ice cream!!),... nearly anything in it.

Put the butter in the microwave for about 20 seconds until it's a fat paste. Mix the hasjs with 4/5th of the butter. (heat up the hasjs with a lighter and crumble it in the butter). With the rest of the butter your fatten the baking form so you can get the cake out easy when it's done.

Now mix the butter (and hasjs), flour, eggs and milk and sugar (and the possible extra ingredient). Keep on mixing it for a few minutes until it's nice and smooth. If it's to dry: at a little milk. Is it to much of a liquid: ad a little flour.

Put the cake in the oven for about 25 minutes.
Check how it looks before opening the oven. If it's big and brown (I think you can imagine how a cake looks like) open the oven and take the cake out.

Leave it outside the oven for about 30 minutes to cool down before getting it out of it's form.

Enjoy your meal.

(BTW: be sure to have a lot of soft drinks around. Space cake can be rather dry, and using the hasjs always gives everybody a dry mouth)

Since the opening in 1985 of the Hash Marihuana Hemp Museum in Amsterdam, almost a million interested people have visited this permanent exhibition. Each year, some 75,000 people from all parts of the world come to this exceptional cultural and knowledge centre at 148 Oudezijds Achterburgwal, in the heart of the Red-Light District. The museum is completely dedicated to the cannabis plant and its many uses. The Hash Marihuana Hemp Museum is unique in the world, and is much like a voyage of discovery that fits perfectly into a tourist visit to Amsterdam.

The scent of genuine cannabis plants welcomes the visitor already when entering the museum. Inside, all aspects of hash and marihuana are fully explained. For instance, a photo collection shows how hashish is made in the traditional fashion in Afghanistan. In the Middle East, hash has been a stimulant for centuries. There is a large collection of traditional pipes from all over the world. And a collection of photos, posters, and magazines on the cannabis culture, ranging from the 19th century to the era of jazz and on to the contemporary pop culture.

The Hash Marihuana Hemp Museum offers visitors extensive documentation and historical facts about today's use of the cannabis plant as well as about its medicinal, religious and cultural applications. In addition, attention is given to the importance of cannabis to the environment, agriculture and industry. The museum shows that hemp has evolved to become one of Man's most valuable raw materials used in farming.

This summer, the Hash Marihuana Hemp Museum will relocate to 130 Oudezijds Achterburgwal. In the new building, it will soon be possible to admire many more valuable pictures and objects. For instance, objects such as hand tools and implements used through the centuries to make hemp into rope, paper and fabrics. The vast collection contains works by David Teniers the Younger, Cornelis Decker and Adriaen van Ostade. It also includes modern canvases by Piet Mondrian and others.

Cannabis lovers can enjoy the museum to their hearts' content. The souvenir shop offers a wide variety of articles, such as T-Shirts, made of hemp. Of course, there are all conceivable kinds of paraphernalia for sale that can be used to enjoy cannabis. And those who want to grow marihuana for themselves can get all requisites and expert advice at the seeds shop. Cannabis plants in their different stages of development can be admired in an indoor garden.

Although cannabis is considered controversial in many places of the world, the Hash Marihuana Hemp Museum aims to provide an objective picture of this remarkable plant. CHOCOLATE BUDS Recipe

Start with Hershey's Premium Baking Bar Unsweetened Chocolate. On the back is a recipe for brownies which includes

1 cup butter,

4 squares of chocolate,

2 cups sugar,

4 eggs,

1 cup of flour,

and vanilla extract.

Start with dry hemp leaves and grind them in a coffee grinder to a fine powder. Put in a measuring cup until ~75 ml of "green flour" is made. Fill to the 1 cup mark (250 ml) with regular flour. Proceed with recipe on box: Heat oven to 350 F, Grease 13x9x2 (inch) pan. Heat butter and chocolate and stir with wooden spoon until smooth. Stir in sugar. Add eggs one at a time.

Add vanilla extract and stir in flour mixture. Add nuts if desired (a very nice touch I think) and bake for 40 minutes. It seemed to take 10 minutes longer than the box suggested (30 minutes) to be completely baked through. Makes 3 dozen brownies. Take 2 and wait an hour. Take 4 and cruise for 12 hours. Enjoy!
